State Fund Named One of 10 Best Places to Work
We're thrilled to have been named a 2024 Top 10 Best Place to Work in the Greater Bay Area, by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and San Francisco Business Times. This honor applies to companies with over 500 employees, putting us in a league alongside notable companies like Comcast, Hewlett Packard, and Moss Adams. We were previously a finalist, so reaching the top 10 this year is a huge accomplishment for our amazing team!
The award was accepted last week by Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning Alvin Cheung, who was honored to attend the event in San Francisco on behalf of the organization.
Being one of the best places to work shows an organization’s commitment to employee engagement. It measures a wide range of workplace factors that impact employee engagement and satisfaction such as employees who willingly go above and beyond in their work, advocate for the organization, and intend to stay into the future.
“Culture is one of the pillars of our strategy to provide industry-leading workers’ comp coverage to California businesses”, said State Fund President and CEO Vern Steiner. “We know that the better we take care of our employees, the more fuel they have in their tank to take care of our customers and their employees who have been hurt on the job.”
What our employees value most
If you ask current employees about what makes working for State Fund special, you’ll get a variety of answers. You might hear about our stellar benefits package, the many remote work opportunities, or the great work-life balance. Others value the opportunity to help and impact lives or the ability to advance in their career within the agency. In addition, we work to provide services and benefits that keep employees engaged and show they are valued. Programs such as:
- Emerging Leader Program provides training and development opportunities to new and existing employees, encouraging a successful, long-term career within the organization.
- Center of Culture keeps employees informed and engaged with a variety of events. From walking challenges to raise money for the American Cancer Society, to the Lunch-and-Learn Series delving into topics like Mental Health Awareness and a celebration Women’s History Month.
- The Disability Advisory Council helps to foster a culture that emphasizes the capabilities of individuals with disabilities through the implementation of initiatives and educational programs.
- Our Wellness Program facilitates education about health and wellness among employees by offering education, fitness challenges, the Weight Watchers at Work subsidy program, pet insurance, and more.
- The Employee Assistance Program offers support for life’s challenges. From career and grief counseling to legal and financial consulting, employees have access to a variety of services, free of charge.
