As Chief of Internal Affairs (CIA), Dante Robinson is a member of State Fund’s Executive Committee and reports directly to President and CEO Vern Steiner. Dante’s career and business acumen is grounded in more than 25 years of Audit and Risk Management expertise, Privacy and Compliance, and Fraud Investigations strengthened by his experience in managing revenue and a P&L through business operations.
In 2022, Dante returned to the role of State Fund's CIA, a position to which he originally came to State Fund in January 2014, after having consulted directly to State Fund in that capacity for two years. As CIA, his duties include responsibility for the Internal Audit Department, Special Investigation Unit, and the Governance, Compliance, and Privacy Department. Dante reports directly to the Chair of the State Fund Board of Directors’ Audit Committee, providing Audit Committee Reports from internal audits and external examinations, working with the independent external auditing firms, and overseeing frequent external regulatory examinations.
In November 2021, he was named Executive Vice President of Strategic Technology Project Execution. He was responsible for coordination and collaboration across the executive team, business teams, and Information Technology team for key strategic technology projects. Dante was tasked with driving these projects from ideation to implementation and ensuring State Fund delivers on its long-term strategic goals: improving customer experience, finding process efficiencies, and reducing expenses.
Prior to this role, Dante served as State Fund’s Executive Vice President of Regional Operations. He was responsible for the operations of State Fund’s four California regions, including responsibility for business development across all revenue segments: Small Commercial, Middle Market, and Large accounts. His primary focus included managing relationships and executing outreach strategies for the broker community while implementing service enhancements that improved customer experiences for valued policyholders.
During Dante’s first tenure as CIA, he accepted a one-year special assignment to lead the Direct Channel strategy project. This project identified a customer experience and revenue opportunity in State Fund’s service portfolio to allow Direct Channel customers the ability to bind small commercial policies online. He also led the development of the Quote and Bind (Q&B) online application. The success of this project led State Fund to develop its BindNow application that allows brokers to bind policies and pay online for the initial payment.
Prior to joining State Fund, Dante was Senior Vice President and Audit Director at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco. His audit portfolio consisted of Corporate Credit, Corporate Treasury, and Wholesale Lines of Business, which included Asset Management, Corporate Trust, Capital Markets, Commercial Corporate and Government Banking, Insurance, International, Real Estate, Treasury Management, and Wholesale Banking Support Services. Dante previously worked for Charles Schwab & Co. as a Director in the Internal Audit Department, where he led the audit team for the Retirement Plan Services enterprise. He began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he obtained his CPA.
Dante has held multiple certifications including CPA, Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist (CFIRS), Certified in Risk Management Administration (CRMA), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), and he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, with an emphasis in accounting and finance.
