Stephen Hunckler became State Fund’s Chief Claims Operations Officer, on October 1, 2015. He establishes the vision, goals, and strategies for State Fund’s Claims and Claims Legal operations. As the CCOO, he works with the Corporate, Regional Claims, Claims Processing Center and Legal leaders to ensure that all Claims and Claims Legal operations are meeting performance and strategic goals and are in compliance with audit, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
The CCOO oversees the following operations: Claims Legal, Claims Processing Center, Corporate Claims (includes Operations and Regulatory Division and Medical Division); State Contracts Services; and Major Claims Operations.
Steve previously served as Senior Vice President at State Auto Insurance Companies, where he helped lead the transformation of all lines of claims, loss control, premium audit, and call center operations. He also served in executive roles at Balboa Insurance Group, CNA Insurance Companies, Travelers Property Casualty, AIG, and Zurich Insurance Group.
Steve is a graduate of Colorado State University (Global Campus) and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership. He has also earned the Charter Property Claims Underwriter, Associate in Claims and Certified Claims Professional designations from the Insurance Institute of America. Steve has also earned the Leadership Fellow designation from the National Association of Corporate Directors. He brings to State Fund strong expertise in operational excellence, claim management and customer service.
