Turning Raw Data Into Useful Broker Insights
We’re always looking for new ways to better serve our broker partners. Behind every improvement is a team of employees who are encouraged to think creatively, explore new ideas, and use data to solve real business challenges. One way we support that work is through our annual Business Intelligence (BI) Games.
How the BI-Games work
The BI-Games bring together employees from across the organization to turn data into insights. Teams work with tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Strategy, and Excel. They study data sets, identify trends, and build dashboards that help uncover ways to improve how we do business.
Ideas in action
One team, for example, developed interactive heat maps that showed where brokers were making policy payments online. The dashboard flagged regions with high online use and identified areas where more brokers could adopt the online system. The team also built a chart on the policyholder self-service survey, which gave us a clear view of customer engagement across different regions. These are just a few of the ideas that emerge from the BI Games. They show how data can improve the services we provide to brokers and policyholders.
More than a competition
While the BI Games are a friendly competition, they’re also a reflection of our commitment to steady learning, teamwork, and new ideas. Employees from a variety of departments can expand their skills with data, share ideas, and find new ways to solve business challenges.
Innovation starts with curiosity. By investing in our employees’ growth and rewarding creative thinking, we can keep building solutions that better serve California employers, injured workers, and the broker community every day.
