Safety Professionals
Helping You Manage an Effective Loss Control Program
State Fund's loss control professionals will assist you in analyzing the hazards and needs of your company and help you develop, and promote an effective loss control program. Some available services include:
- Safety Surveys - injury analysis history and inspections for current hazards.
- Assistance in complying with CAL-OSHA regulations and standards.
- On site inspections with written evaluations and reports.
- Loss Analysis Reports - summary of your workplace injuries and illnesses and their costs.
- Supervisory/Management training covering a wide variety of safety topics to educate employers on creating safe work environments for their employees.
- Assistance with the creation of an Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Employee training through ongoing programs on such topics as Forklift Safety, Pesticide Safety, Hazard Communication, and Construction Safety.
- Ergonomics & Industrial Hygiene – On site surveys to evaluate occupational health risk for noise, and chemical exposures; and assessment of ergonomic risk from material handling, repetitive motion, and overexertion. A written report of findings with possible control measures will be provided.
- State Fund’s Back Connection® - An interactive DVD used to analyze specific work activities to limit back injuries and reduce their associated costs.

Certified Safety Professionals
State Fund has the most Board Certified Safety Professionals (CSPs) in the insurance industry. The CSP designation is awarded to safety professionals by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
To become a CSP, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in safety from an accredited safety program, or equivalent experience, or a combination of experience and education.
- A minimum of four years of professional safety experience.
- Successful completion of two full days of written examinations.
In order to maintain a CSP designation ongoing professional education and experience is required.
