State Fund to Host Free Injury and Illness Prevention Plan Development for Policyholders October 28-29 – Ontario, Palm Desert

October 27, 2008

ONTARIO, PALM DESERT/SAN FRANCISCO – State Compensation Insurance Fund will sponsor a comprehensive injury and illness prevention seminar in Ontario, October 28 and Palm Desert, October 29. The seminar – Your IIPP – Will it Pass the Cal/OSHA Test? - is free to State Fund policyholders and designed to inform employers of the importance in having an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in place as a way of reducing future claims.

The number one cited Cal/OSHA violation is failure to have a written IIPP. This program is designed to inform employers of the importance and necessity of meeting the legal requirement of a written IIPP.

Featured speakers at the seminar include Michael Alvarez, Regional Manager Cal/OSHA Consultation Service, and State Fund Loss Control Consultant Katherine Moore.

Employers will learn

  • What is an Injury & Illness Prevention Program
  • Who needs to have an IIPP
  • How to develop an effective program to help ensure the safety and health of employees while on the job
  • The result of not having an IIPP during a Cal/OSHA inspection

The seminars will offer one-on-one assistance from State Fund Loss Control Representatives. Cal/OSHA Consultation Service will be available to discuss development of IIPP plans.

The Ontario seminar – October 28 - is scheduled at the Ontario Airport Marriott, 2200 E. Holt Boulevard, Ontario. The Palm Desert seminar – October 29 – will be held at the Embassy Suites, 74-700 Highway 111, Palm Desert. Seminar times for both locations: Sessions 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with registration and continental breakfast for both sessions starting at 8:00 a.m.
