As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, it won’t be long before we’re experiencing another hot California summer. Every year, heat illness strikes many California outdoor workers, and in some tragic cases, results in death.
In our continuing effort to educate and protect California employers and workers, the State Fund Employer Education Series presents “Heat Illness Prevention for Outdoor Work.” The free statewide seminars will include new information from Cal/OSHA about their “heat illness prevention emergency regulation enforcement.” These recently crafted Cal/OSHA guidelines, released just weeks ago, were developed to bring clarification and uniformity to the application of the standard. The Cal/OSHA action came after input from a variety of stakeholders, including employers, labor groups, workers, and safety experts. The seminar also covers Cal/OSHA targeted risk factors, and learning the best defense against heat-related illnesses with basic prevention steps.
