Jennifer Vargen was named Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications in January, 2011, having served as Communications Director since 2007.
Vargen joined State Fund in 1988 in Personnel Services. In 1989 she was promoted to Marketing where she worked on State Fund’s advertising. A year later she transferred to sales in the San Francisco District Office where her success was underscored by her nomination as 1991 “Sales Rookie of the Year.”
In 1995 she was promoted to Sales Manager in the San Francisco District Office, and shortly afterward worked with management to create the district’s first Broker Services Unit.
Seven years later she returned to Human Resources as Employee Services Manager. In 2005, Vargen was appointed Marketing Operations Manager, and her accomplishments during this tenure include chairing an organization-wide customer outreach program and also steering the marketing plan for the policyholder rollout of State Fund Online.
In 2007, the Executive Committee appointed Vargen as Communications Manager. In 2008 she launched State Fund's branding campaign, which has had a significant impact on State Fund's internal and external communication programs.
Vargen serves as a Communications Committee member of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF). She earned her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from San Francisco State University.
